Welcome!

Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!

Marshmallow Peppermint Sticks

Christmastime is THE time to do all kinds of baking and decorating. I just love it. I love making treats and goodies and this is always on my list. They are so fun and easy to make and great to put in hot chocolate! This is something even the littlest hands can do and is something great to remember for almost any holiday or celebration.

Ingredients:

Large marshmallows
Peppermint sticks
White Chocolate
Coarse sugar sprinkles

Take one peppermint stick and poke it into one end of a marshmallow. I found it easiest to put the marshmallow on a flat surface, poke the peppermint stick into it, then press the marshmallow around the peppermint stick. Repeat until all marshmallows and peppermint sticks are used.

Melt white chocolate (I used Candy Melts) then dip the marshmallow into the chocolate. Tap off excess chocolate then sprinkle with coarse sugar. Set aside so chocolate can harden.

** TIP: If you use Candy Melts, add about a tablespoon of vegetable oil per 1 cup of chocolate after the chocolate has been melted.  It thins out the candy and makes for easier dipping.

I wrapped mine in candy bags.
