Salted caramel desserts are all the rage right now, aren't they? I
love anything with that combo of flavors. So when a friend and I went to
dinner the other day, we split something like this. I knew I could make
it at home and I have to say....I think this turned out better than
what we had in the restaurant. I used caramel bits instead of chocolate
chips but you could certainly use the chocolate and this would be
delicious. I just wanted a total caramel extravaganza going on....and I
got exactly what I'd envisioned! Totally yummy!!
Salted Caramel Blondie Brownies
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup caramel bits (found in the baking aisle by the chocolate chips)
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Vanilla ice cream
Caramel ice cream sauce
Caramel popcorn (I bought a small bag in the popcorn section for $1.00)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mix the brown sugar into the melted butter in a mixing bowl.
Mix in the beaten egg and vanilla.
Add flour mixture,a little at a time, mixing just until combined.
Stir in caramel bits.
Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
Sprinkle with kosher salt.
Bake about 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool then cut into squares.
Drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve with ice cream and cracker jack popcorn.
Welcome!
Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!
