I love me a good bowl of granola. I don't like to pay the price for
it in the grocery store, though. I think this recipe is better....WAY
better than anything that comes from a box. The recipe below is how I
like to do it...but you can get creative and add all kinds of goodies in
there. Throw in some pecan pieces or some sunflower seeds. Add a
variety of dried fruits. Maybe some mini-chocolate chips to entice the
kiddies. Whatever you add can only make it better!!
Better Than Chex Granola
1 18-ounce container quick oats
¼ cup brown sugar
¾ cup wheat germ
1 cup coconut
1 cup nuts (optional)
½ cup dry milk
1 cup Craisins or raisins
2/3 cup honey
2/3 cup oil
2 teaspoons water
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
Heat over to 300 degrees.
Combine oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, coconut, nuts, dry milk and Craisins or raisins in a large bowl.
In
a small bowl, combine honey, oil, water and vanilla. Stir well then
pour over oat mixture. Stir until all is combined. Pour out onto a large
greased and rimmed cookie sheet. Bake for 40 minutes, stirring after 20
minutes. Remove after 40 minutes and let cool in pan. Crumble cooked
granola and store in an airtight container.
Welcome!
Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!
