A long time ago on a different social network, I "met" a gal named
Jenni. I'm not sure how we got acquainted but we did. We followed each
other on the other site then when Facebook became all the rage, we were
friends there, too. I've never met her in person but I feel like if I
did we'd be good friends. One thing good friends do is share recipes and
she shared this one that she got from another friend, on her FB page
not long ago. What's funny is that she had shared it on the other site
YEARS ago and I printed it out to use and promptly misplaced it. So when
she posted it again, I snatched it right up to use on SFFS...with
Jenni's permission of course. We had it at Thanksgiving but it would be
terrific for your Christmas dinner, too. The original recipe does not
use butter in the topping, so that's totally your call. I used
it...because, well..I just did and I love butter. It's a different spin
on traditional cranberry sauce...you should try it because I think you'd
really like it. Just like I did.
Connie's Hot Cranberry~Apple Dish
3 cups diced red apples (with peel still on ~ 2 - 3 medium apples)
2 cups raw fresh cranberries
1 cup white sugar
Stir well making sure fruit is covered in sugar.
Place in a greased 2 quart baking dish.
Topping
1/4 cup butter, softened ~ optional
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oats
1/3 cup flour
Stir together and spread on top of fruit. Bake at 350 for an hour!
Welcome!
Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!
