Welcome!

Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!

This set of magnolia dishes brings back fun memories for me. A friend (Hi Denise!!) and I went to Charleston, SC about 15 years ago or so. It was before she lived in OK and I lived in SC. We were doing the touristy thing...wandering around that beautiful city. We had gone to the Public Market and stocked up on candied pecans (yum!) and eaten at a few wonderful restaurants. As we were strolling through some of the shops, these dishes caught my eye. I was immediately smitten and bought two sets on the spot. Before I thought about how I was going to get them home. Lucky for me, the nice people who owned the shop said they would ship them to me....all the way out in CA. Whew! Crises averted! And sure enough...about 2 weeks after I got home, two big boxes arrived on my doorstep with these dishes inside! I use them at Christmas time because I think they have a festive flair to them...but I also use them throughout the year. I just love 'em!!

The glasses I found at Target, of all places. Again...Denise and I were doing some after Christmas shopping and we spotted these on clearance for $1.00 each! They had them in this pretty green, which I snagged and Denise opted for a beautiful lavender. The flatware was a bargain!! IT Guy and I were shopping at Dillard"s one day. As I was strolling through the fine dining area, I spied a clearance table. This set of flatware was marked down significantly. I think it was marked down 75% because it was missing ONE teaspoon. AND...the best part was that it was a 16-piece place setting!! SCORE!! I decided I could do without a teaspoon for the price!! Don't you just love good deals???
