Welcome!

Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!

Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

I had a friend send me a text message the other day asking if I liked strawberry shortcake. Of course my answer was a resounding "YES!". I was going to see her that evening, so she brought me a small container of what looked just like strawberry shortcake. When I tasted it, I knew it was different...and delicious. I texted her back later that evening asking for the recipe and she happily obliged. This easy little dessert with knock you into next week. It's SO good!!!!

Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

4 - 5 cups sliced strawberries (about 2 pounds)
1 14-ounce container strawberry glaze
2 8-ounce packages cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 8-ounce container Cool Chip
1 9-ounce angel food cake

Tear angel food cake into bite sized pieces. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sugar until well mixed.
Fold in the Cool Whip.

In a separate bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and the glaze. Mix well.

In a large glass serving bowl, start layering the cake, berries and the cream cheese mixture, starting with the angel food cake and ending with the cream cheese mixture.

I do three layers of each.

Garnish with a whole strawberry.

Chill for several hours before serving.

Here's what you need.

Pour the glaze over the sliced berries. (If you're not a fan of glaze, then you could just sugar the berries a little and use them that way.)
