You're not going to believe this but until I made these bars the
other day, I had never tasted Nutella. Never. Ever. In my life. I've
seen all kinds of recipes all over the place using it and I've seen it
at the grocery store, but never tried it. My daughter has been telling
me for months that I need to try it so, on a whim, I picked some up at
the store. I decided to use my jam bar recipe for these and let me tell
you....wow. Just wow. Unbelievably delicious. Really...you gotta try
these. Soon.
Oatmeal Nutella Bars
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup Nutella
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8 inch square pan. Line with foil and spray the foil.
Combine brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, and rolled oats.
Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until crumbly.
Press 2 cups of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Spread the Nutella almost to the edge. It might help to warm the Nutella for easier spreading.
Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top, and lightly press it into the jam.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned.
Allow to cool then cut into bars.
Welcome!
Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!
