Welcome!

Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!

You know....you hear a lot how the south is known for their bbq, right? We have found that THAT means pork, usually. Now I like pork as much as the next person, but I REALLY prefer beef. So if I can find a bbq place around here that serves brisket, then that's where I'm going. I've wanted to cook a brisket at home for quite some time, but the stores here normally only have reeeeally big pieces of brisket and I don't want that. So when my mom picked up this small piece I knew where I was going with it. We were very happy with the results of this little beefy guy.

Easy Oven Brisket

2 pound brisket
1/2 cup water
2/3 cup bbq sauce
2 tablespoon soy sauce
Seasoning salt

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

In a small bowl, mix the water, bbq sauce and soy sauce.

Line a cookie sheet with foil. Lay another piece of foil in the pan then lay the meat on the second piece. Season the meat on both sides with seasoning salt. Crumple the foil around the meat leaving it open a little bit.

Pour the sauce mixture on top of the meat then close the foil.

Bake about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

Allow meat to stand at room temperature about 10 minutes before slicing.

The line-up.

Mix the water, bbq sauce and soy sauce.

Season the meat then pour
the sauce mixture over it.

Wrap the meat in the foil and bake until.....

...you get this. About 2 hours or so.

Let it sit for a few minutes then slice.
Serve alone or as sandwiches!!
