Welcome!

Welcome to Simple Fare, Fairly Simple. This is a place for me to post recipes of all kinds...along with other miscellaneous fodder from my so-called life here in the south. Who knows what you will find here. Could be anything from my husband...known as IT Guy...to my kids and beautiful grandbabies that are growing up way too fast right before my eyes. But...mostly this will be a place for food. I hope you'll see something you like and if you decide to try something from the list...leave me a comment and let me know!

Since my kids are grown and (mostly) gone, my cooking has changed quite a bit. If it's just me and IT Guy, lots of times I will throw together something simple...like sandwiches. Like these! So easy and so good! If you can't find shaved beef (ask your butcher to shave it if you can't find it) you can also use thinly sliced steak. A tip for slicing it thin at home: freeze the meat for about 15 - 20 minutes before you slice it and it will come out nice and thin!

Shaved Beef Sliders

1 pound shaved beef (or thinly sliced steak)
1 medium onion ~ sliced
Provolone Cheese
Small dinner rolls or Hawaiian bread rolls
Salt and pepper
BBQ Sauce

Sliced the onion thin then caramelize in a heavy skillet with a little olive oil.

Remove onion from pan and add beef. Cook until done then add the onions back to the pan and heat through.

Brown rolls in a little butter in a small pan then assemble sandwiches.

This is all you need for your sandwiches.

Caramelize the onions.

Remove the cooked onions to a plate
then brown the beef in the same pan.
Since the beef is SO thin, this will only take a few minutes.

Add the onions back to the skillet and heat through.

Assemble the sandwiches and enjoy!!
