IT Guy and I went to my brother's house the other day for a Mother's
Day dinner for our mom. It was my job to bring a side dish. Which I
did...but that's not what this post is about. I'll save that for later. I
couldn't stop at just a side dish, though. I had to bring something
else. So I brought TWO side dishes....and dessert. Dessert is what this
post is about. The men in my family love pecan pie. So...what better
thing to make for my mom than something the guys enjoy. (I was always
the rebel.) But never fear...my SIL made my mom's favorite...strawberry
shortcake. I experimented with my pecan pie to try to jazz it up and it
turned out SO good. I had wanted to use caramel sauce in the pie, but my
pantry was lacking there...so I used sweetened condensed milk instead!
Winner, winner chicken dinner!! It was yum-MY!!!
Candy Bar Pecan Pie
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup light Karo syrup
3 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chocolate chips
1/3 can sweetened condensed milk
1 unbaked pie shell – 9 inch
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Sprinkle
chocolate chips in the bottom of the unbaked pie crust. Then drizzle
about 1/3 can of sweetened condensed milk over the chocolate chips. Set
aside.
In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar and Karo syrup. Stir well then add eggs and combine. Stir in chopped pecans.
Pour
pecan mixture over the chocolate chips. Place pie on a cookie sheet and
bake for about an hour or until the center is firm when shaken.
Here's what you need for this yummy pie.
Stir together the melted butter,
sugar and Karo syrup.
Then add the eggs. Stir it until
nice and combined.
Then dump in the chopped pecans.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over
the pie crust. I used a 9-inch crust.
Then drizzle the sweetened condensed
milk over the chocolate chips.
Or you can use caramel sauce.
Then pour the pecan mixture over
the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.
This is how it looks!
Bake it up then cut yourself a slice when no one is looking!
